This Carrie married an Aidan
I was totally and completely on the “Sex and the City” bandwagon (that is, until the second movie – the first was tolerable, but the second was ridiculous). Back then I always rooted for Mr. Big. I was swept up by the flash and glamour of the high life – fancy events, fancy clothes, fancy man. I was ecstatic when Carrie ended up with him in Paris and dreamed of such a fairy tale ending for myself.
But it turned out this Carrie married an Aidan – and it was the best decision I ever made. This big city girl married an outdoorsy, handy, artistic, sweet, and caring man.
Recently we decided to take more ownership over our house (literally – we had been renting from Dan’s parents but now we’re on a contract for deed). Since then we made a few upgrades and changes – simple ones we had been planning for a while.
I finally got my makeshift pantry in the back entry. We have plans to fine-tune and beautify it, but for now it functions and gives me more storage.
We moved the kid’s bedroom upstairs into Dan’s old office, Dan’s desk into an underused corner of the bedroom, and (drum roll please…) we have a dining room! Da da da da!
But, a dining room needs a table and chairs, right? We found a great one on Etsy and were ready to pay more than $300 plus shipping, but Dan came home one day determined to make one himself. His design, instructions, and “ingredients list” will be included in the next post.
Isn’t my hubby handy? And the table is gorgeous. I can’t wait to share pictures with you! He also made a bench to go along with the set, and has plans to build me some chairs, too.
Now, this former city girl will take camping and handiness over a sparkling night in Paris any day (though, he gave me that, too - more on our honeymoon story in a future post!).
